The article envisages the main aspects of harmonization of the adopted in Soviet era and more or less adjusted to modern Russian classification principles of exploration and reserves estimation as compared to those generally accepted by the world (western) practice of solid minerals potential estimation (CRIRSCO standards based on JORC Code) . There have been demonstrated theoretical aspects of two different approaches and differences in expert examination of ore deposits resources. On the basis of analysis of reserves/resources estimations of Au, Pb, Zn, Fe deposits as well as a number of coal deposits in Russia, Africa, Mongolia and Australia, etc. there have been proposed recommendations on practical harmonization methods of reserves/resources estimation as a basis of state policy for evaluation the sites under tender, as well as the principles of subsoil user motivation in investing into exploration operations (reserves capitalization).
