The paper deals with regional regularities of change of oil-gas potential of Meso-Cenozoic deposits within the NE Azerbaijan and South Dagestan. There has been taken an effort to product possible stratigraphic interval of oil-gas potential in the Yalama-Khudat zone, proceeding from the determined regularity and its relation with geological structure of the investigated regions. Prevalence of liquid HC in the subsided zone (Kayakend, Izberbash, Achi-Su, Inchkhe-more in the South Dagestan and Siazan monocline and Shurabad in the NE Azerbaijan) has been determined. The areas related to a large Samur arc with a high level of occurrence of a surface of Jurassic rocks (Khoshmensil, Dag.Oqny) and Paleogene-upper Cretaceous deposits are outside the zone of oil-generation and are characterized by prevailing gas-potential are oil-gas potential (field Duzlak). For this reason, as main objects of exploration in Yalama-Khudat zone, there have been identified Jurassic (prospective for exploration of mainly gas deposits) and Cretaceous (prospective in respect of liquid HC). Prospects of oil-gas potential of the Cretaceous deposits are associated with the SW slopes of uplift (non-anticline type of deposits), faced towards the South Dagestan-Zeikhur depression. The arcs of uplifts are of interest only from the point of view of gas potential of Jurassic deposits.
