The results of special investigations of rocks radioactivity of wide stratigraphic interval (Jurassic-Pliocene) of sedimentary section of the East Azerbaijan are given in the article. 40 natural outcrops of the East Azerbaijan were observed. As a result of gamma-spectrometry investigations it was determined that the rocks of the Lower Maikop have the most radioactivity and the rocks of Cretaceous age have the least radioactivity. The distribution of activity of Jurassic rocks is subjected to normal law and connected with thorium and potassium activity. The low activity of Cretaceous rocks caused by the low content of radioactive elements at the same time the basic contribution comes from potassium in general activity level. The activity of the Lower Oligocene is the highest and it is connected with increase of uranium content. The obtained results demonstrate the possibility of gamma-spectrometry investigations use taking into consideration the geologic-geochemical data as the rapid method of stratification of the sedimentary sections.
