The paper clarifies the lithofacial composition of the Pliocene sediments, predicts of oil and gas potential, substantiates the areas of exploration and the search for non-clinical traps, also analyses the favourable conditions for the accumulation of hydrocarbons and residual oil and gas reserves as a result of integrated geophysical (seismic) and downhole geophysical survey (DGS) of the south-western pericline directed to the Turkan area and the south-eastern part of the Gala fold.

On the basis of analysis of seismic profiles using CDP (common depth point), it was found that the prospecting sites are associated with a large number of the non-anticlinal traps. The results of CDP works and petrophysical characteristics of the PL deposits were evaluated, and examination, trap classification, and prediction of oil and gas fields were performed.

The distribution of forecast parameters such as porosity, sandiness, permeability, clayiness and carbonateness by area were analysed. As a result the regularity of petrophysical rock parameter distribution based on the well data obtained from the GALD horizon in the Gala-Turkan area was revealed.

The petrophysical parameters analysis on seismic profiles was conducted to identify non-anticlinal traps in the Gala-Turkan area, and the increase of these parameters value from NW to the structure pericline (in the lithological pinchout and tectonic screened sections) was determined. The sharp changes of the observed petrophysical parameters indicate that the rocks within the trap are composed of collectors.
