The article describes geological structure of Govdagh-Sumgait subzone according to the outcomes of latest geological and geophysical investigations. The structure is studied within framework of tectonically laminated Alpine cover of the South-East Caucasus as the complex allocthonous complex consisting of different scaled tectonic plates of the Cretaceous and Paleogene-Miocene (to include Pontian) rocks, and formulated during the Miocene phase of tectogenesis. The article describes internal structure of parautochtonous, allocthonous and neoautochtonous complexes. At the end it flows to the conclusion about cover’s areal development (as differs from separate allocthonous plates distinguished within the subzone) and its tracing into the territory of Absheron Peninsula.
