The paper defines the stratigraphic position of the Holocene buried soils among other deposits of the northeastern slope of the Lesser Caucasus with analysis of their mineralogical and palynological composition. The correlation and dynamics of content amendments of carbonates and humus was studied, which are the main indicators of the composition of soils, according to the sections and depth of the soil layers. On the basis of the results obtained, the features of formation were determined and the paleogeographic conditions for the formation of Holocene buried soils, including the climate and vegetation of this period, were restored. The results prove the presence of three warm and three relatively cold periods of the Holocene climate in the study area. In general, the buried soils of the region were formed in warm climatic conditions, which, in some periods, differed in moisture regime (moderate, wet, relatively dry), genetic origin (alluvial, deluvial) and landscape (forest, meadow, swampy) conditions.

Keywords: Holocene, buried soils, humus, carbonate, correlation, climate, paleogeographic condition
