In case of Absheron-Balkhan threshold attempted paleo-reconstruction lithogenesis conditions lower Pliocene time on the northern board (SCB), as the conditions of sedimentation-diagenesis Lower Pliocene deposits and the formation of rocks of productive (PS) and the red-colored (RS) sequences using a set of well-known geochemical criteria: ratio of oxides and trace elements, which allowed to identify common and distinctive features of PS and RS formation (redox conditions, deep basin, range drift deposits, paleoclimate in the source area, the salinity of the basin). The general features and conditions of formation of the PS and RS, justified diagenetic nature of brown-red color RS. The results are in good agreement with the existing ideas about the conditions of formation lower Pliocene deposits in the South Caspian Basin.
