The article analyses the earthquakes that have occurred in the territory of Talysh structural zone during the period of 891-2014. There have been built the graph for the generated energy as a function of number of earthquakes in the past 10 years and the seismological section to study the distribution of earthquakes by the depth. It is established that the seismic activity is increasing starting from year 2009 and will possible reach its maximum in 2015. The analysis of tangible earthquakes occurring within the research region indicated that almost 65% of the earthquakes take place in the territory of Lenkoran region. The majority of hypocentres are located at the depths of 10-30 km and is linked with the shifts in the consolidated crust. Most of the earthquakes with ml≥4 occurred at the depths of 10-15 km and only a small part of those at the depth of 30km. It is established that the main seismic activity is linked with the Talysh and Pre-Talysh deep faults.

Also there have been developed and analysed the mechanisms of the centres of earthquakes in the past 10 years. For construction it is established that the bigger part of the research territory undergoes compression. Three main types of the shifts have been established for the Talysh region: uplifts (36%), shifts (34%) and chops (30%). The analysis of compression axis of higher magnitude earthquakes indicated the prevalence of north-eastern orientation whilst for weaker ones NE-SW orientations.
