Special attention pays to necessities of the valid and reliable quantitative estimations of the material composition of reservoir rocks, especially in carbonate sections, as precision and accuracy of the determination of reservoirs capacity characteristics and their saturation parameters depend directly on this. The possibility of these problems solution has been shown according to spectrometric NPhM GIS. There have been given examples of the comparison of the spectrometric data interpretation results of NPhM GIS with core data for terrigenous and carbonate sections, as well as some examples of their use during hydrocarbon raw material reserves calculations (recalculations). The intractable problems of complex objects study being substantial hydrocarbon growth potential have been listed for the conventional methods of GIS. The perspective of experimental and methodological works carrying out on such objects has been stated with using NPhM investigations.
