This article discusses the results of radon concentration measuring conducted for the first time on Azerbaijan territory. Research carried out by support of Switzerland National Scientific Fund within joint grant and with use of Swiss methodology. In settlements of republic 2500 “Gammadata” radon detectors were established. As a result of data obtained processing the maps of volume activity distribution and radon anomalous concentration have been built for Azerbaijan territory. It has been defined the areas with higher concentrations are confined to fold-mountain massive of the Greater Caucasus and Talysh, the lower – to low territories. Radon distribution map was correlated with deep faults, earthquakes epicenters and geothermic gradients. The article also focuses on radon distribution which depends upon the building material where detector was placed.
