Present structure of SCMB is a result of multistage evolution of lithosphere in central segment of Alpine-Himalaya Mobile Belt (AHMB). Two main factors – geodynamics (i.e. system of acting forces) and type of Crust defined many peculiarities of different type sedimentary basins earlier existing in the Caucasian-Caspian region including the nature of deep processes, tectonics, rate of sagging and sedimentation.
Structural-morphological peculiarities of consolidated crust and structure of sedimentary cover are studied on the base of new geophysical data and seismostratigraphic analysis of ultradeep seismometry materials by CDP method. Oceanic type of consolidated Crust is determined in relict depression of South Caspian and its subduction under Scythian-Turanian platform.
The article focuses on peculiarities of geodynamics and evolution transformation of lithosphere of AHMB Caucasian-South Caspian segment from position of tectonics of lithospheric plates (TLP). On thee base of seismostratigraphic interpretation of high informative materials of ultradeep seismometry morphological and tectonic structures have been revealed by CDP method which are typical for Paleobasins of different tectonotype existing earlier in region. Tectono sedimentation complexes have been defined and also unconformity surfaces dividing them, conformable borders are concordant to them determining boundaries of stage by stage development of SCMB. The main stages and levels of evolution development of Megabasin are defined within geotectonic (Alpine) cycle.
Geotectonic cycle in SCMB consists of divergent and convergent stages. Its different cells starting from quarter are on various levels of development. Caucasus and Kopetdag areas symbolize orogenic (collision) stage (VI). Areas of Kura and West Turkmenian troughs were subjected to rise and closing on the background of extreme compression of lithosphere. Full drainage of sedimentation basins occurred and then was transition to continental regime (stage V). Sedimentary material from KT and WTT was pressed on side – towards SCD where Earth Crust was strongly hard. Geotectonic cycle interrupted on the IV stage in SCD is still going on. At present processes of Earth Crust compression are going on and also subduction of consolidated crust and non-compensated sedimentation with progradation of terrigenous deposits on flanks.
