The authors suggest a new version of the geomorphological structure of the Volga River Delta plain and the chronology of its formation phases. The detailed description of geomorphological structure of the Ulluchayskaya oxbowal lake floodplane (-22 – -23 m abs.) and the modern insular floodplane (-24 – -26 m abs.) deltaic flatlands is given. The history of the Volga River protruding delta formation is discussed accounting the peculiarities of geostructural composition of the delta, the deep Mangyshlakskaya regression of the Caspian and repeated Sea Level fluctuations during the Novocaspian period. There is suggested new data about the dynamics of the external delta border of the Volga River delta during the last 200 years.
