About geographical researches in Azerbaijan

The article deals with the analysis and estimation of the results of scientific researches carried out at the Institute of Geography of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
It is shown that as a result of these researches some eco¬nomic problems have been solved in the republic. In different scales and on different themes published atlases and maps were used by the directive organs when distributing the economic structures, extending the areas of agricultural plants, etc.
At the same time the geographical problems that must be solved by the scientists are: foundation of the ways of rational utilization of soil, water and resort-recreational resources, forecasting of the influence of global changes of climate in Azerbaijan, studies of natural and anthropogenic landscapes with applying of aircosmic methods, more rational distribution of population and economy in the republic.
