In addition to the decision of basic fundamental problem of its formation and dynamics, the actuality of the investigation of the Gusar-Shabran (Devechy) trough is determined by practical tasks related to the prospects of discovering of oil and gas fields and studying of geodynamic hazards for the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, the water pipes of Shollar and Takhtakorpu and other infrastructures in this region.
In the article, along the profile of Samur-Baku, located along the western coast of the Caspian Sea, 2D gravity model was constructed using an inhomogeneous density model and the geodynamic characteristics of the profile were studied. 2D bi gravitational model is composed selection method of density boundaries of the upper boundary of the earth’s crust and the Moho boundary. The boundaries of Basalt (28-32 km) and Moho (47-57 km) are specified. Along the profile, the velocity curves of modern vertical and horizontal motions are analyzed and the stress accumulation zones are identified. The values of the radii of the foci and the magnitude of the earthquakes are determined, which created an additional tangible stress and influenced the geodynamic conditions of profile.
