Summary. The actualization of the Gusar-Shabran trough research in line with the basic fundamental problem of formation and dynamics, proves by practical significance interlinked with the perspectives of oil and gas discovery and geodynamic hazard studies for the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline and Shollar and Takhtakorpu water pipelines and other regional infrastructures. The purpose of the paper is to obtain new information about the features of the geological structure of the Earth’s crust and geodynamics along the profile of Samur-Baku. In paper, 2D gravity model alongside the Samur-Baku profile located along the western coast of the Caspian Sea was plotted using an inhomogeneous density model and the geodynamic characteristics of the profile were studied. 2D gravity model is plotted by the selective method of density boundaries of the upper boundary of the Earth’s crust and the Moho-boundary. The boundaries of basalt (28-32 km) and Moho (47-57 km) boundaries were identified. Along the profile, the velocity curves of modern vertical and horizontal motions were analyzed and the stress accumulation zones were identified. The values of the foci radii and earthquake magnitudes were determined, which created additional stresses and influenced the geodynamic conditions of the profile.

Keywords: south-eastern Caucasus, gravity model, GPS velocities, vertical movements, stress, earthquake, fault
